Formula One is a racing game with a difference. Players need to use tactics to maintain a balance between speed, tyre wear and brake wear over an agreed number of laps. Alternative game play is described for a league championship.

The game board represents a race track around which players race their cars. Each player also has a dashboard corresponding to the colour of their car, which acts as a reminder throughout the race of speed, tyre and brake wear and lap indicator.
