1 x set of 30 white, small head, key pegs
5 x black code counters 1 - 5 on face
6 x white code counters, 6 colours

A variation on the original for up to 4 players. The hidden code is combined from each player who holds 1 colour and 1 position number, selected from the black and white code counters.

The first player to break the complete code (6480 permutations; 6x6x6x6x5), wins.

Position the boards to form a cross with storage trays inwards or separately in front of each player.

If you’re confident you know the code, shout “Master Mind” to stop play. Place code pegs in the answer row. If incorrect, you’re out of the game but still must answer correctly when questioned.

Play for 2 or 3 players is described in the rules.
