On the base of the box;
Monopoly (Waddington's property trading game), is the world's greatest board game for 2 or more players, a realistic make-believe of big business and big deals. It's a race to buy up and build houses and hotels, to amass a fortune. There are streets and railways to be bought; and as in real life, mortgages, rents and taxes to be paid. Jail is one of the hazards, bankruptcy the final penalty. But to the winner comes a vast fortune and the thrill of achievement.

The rules also indicate a shorter version of the game, as the full game can take some hours to play.
