1 x fold out fibre backed playing surface with colour illustrations of 1800s railways
1 x card with 21 counters;
- letters A to J (excluding I) playing pieces
- numbers 1 to 9
- 2 X crosses
- 1 x blank
1 x rules booklet in period language

Travel round the game board from 1 to 49. Move according to cardboard counters drawn on each turn; 1 to 9, 2 crosses (pick again) and 1 blank (no move). Players are dealt counters and pay penalties on some squares. The first to reach 49, wins and other players are ranked by their counters held.

This is a modern edition of a traditional game from the 1840s. The printer, Edward Wallis of Skinner Street, London, was the foremost manufacturer of games and puzzles at that time. Wallis only printed in black with colours painstakingly painted by hand afterwards.

The large number of different ‘round’ games dating from this period shows how popular these games of chance were.

The counters can be "of card, bone, wood or any other substance, for forfeits". These are not included in the pack, but the players would improvise with whatever was available.
A fine reproduction of a traditional game.
