Risk is the classic game of world conquest strategy.

The game board represents a map of the world divided into 6 continents.

New to this edition;
- finely detailed playing piece miniatures replace the generic plastic shapes representing armies and battalions.

Each player is instructed to carry out a secret objective and the first to complete is the winner. The game calls for planning on a global scale with rewards or disaster, for the bold. That is the name of the game. The rules for a 2 player game differ. Alternative game play options include;
- world conquest game, mission cards are not used
- Capital Risk, players try to capture opponents’ capital territory to win.

Risk was first produced in France in 1957 as La Conqueste du Monde.  In 1959, it was renamed Risk: The continental game, by Parker Brothers for release in the US. Various names have been used since eg. Risk: The game of global domination, Risk: The world strategy game, Risk: The world conquest game.
