The object is to own the most valuable collection by buying ‘good’ things in one field. The snag is that you don't know whether the object being sold is a good, poor or fake example.
Once you have bought one specimen of an object, it's easier for you to assess the possible value of the next specimen of the same object. So if you already hold the fake victorian salver, you can be sure that the next salver sold is either the good or the poor specimen and therefore worth at least £100 and possibly £200. Other collectors may remember that you have started collecting silver and so may try to run up the bidding to make you pay more. At the same time, if you already own the good specimen, you may feel like running up someone else so that they are left with a poor or fake piece in their hand at a relatively expensive price.

This is a game with the enjoyment of the auction room.

It makes an excellent party game for up to 11 players with easy and entertaining game play. Variations are included in the rules.
