| The best selling dice game in the world. Roll dice combinations matching 13 categories on the score pad. The player with the highest score, wins and earns the difference between the first and second ranked scores. Roll the dice up to 3 times, trying to get a scoring combinations. Enter that score in one of the 13 scoring boxes, 6 in the upper section of the score pad and 7 in the lower section. Complete the boxes in any order, 1box after each turn. The game finishes when the 13 boxes are filled. Sum your scores and bonus points. Choose carefully which scoring combination to aim for as there are bonus points to be earned. Bonus chips worth 100 points are earned when a second Yahtzee is thrown, if and only if, the first Yahtzee was scored in the Yahtzee box. It is entered on the pad, in the appropriate upper section box or as a joker in the lower section. Bonus chips are rarely found in later editions. Play a joker to fill a box in the lower section without necessarily having thrown the right combination. Solitaire play is described though Yahtzee parties are encouraged in the rules leaflet which is a good example of 1950s advertising. Ad lib, a crossword style game, is advertised on the reverse. |
