Red lines divide the board into 63 square zones;
- 4 corners (US Warships, Miami, Dropping zone, Disco Volante)
- 59 fighting zones each subdivided into 16 smaller squares.
Players compete to overpower each other by strategic placement of frogmen in the square fighting zones but attacking or defending moves may be disrupted by sharks from 6 illustrated small squares.
Largo vs James Bond recreates the exciting underwater battle scene from Thunderball, a desperate battle between armies of fully equipped frogmen.
Play Largo and try to move the Spectre submarine bearing 2 atomic bombs from the Disco Volante luxury motor yacht to Miami.
Play Bond and try to foil him. Parachute into the dropping zone, attack Largo's team, capture the submarine and take it to the US warships.
Reach your objective, to win.
The rules are printed on the inside of the box lid. 2 small boxes store the perspex pedestals, stands, sharks and dice. 19 plastic buttons secure the frogmen, Largo, Bond and the submarine to 2 pieces of triangular card.
Made in 1965, Thunderball was the 4th James Bond movie with Sean Connery (following Dr. No, From Russia with love and Goldfinger). A legal case over who owned the rights to make the movie finally resulted in Sean Connery also starring in a tongue-in-cheek remake of the movie in 1983 (Never say never again), by this time he was an ageing secret agent.
This is a truly fantastic game with great detail and artwork. It is very rare to find 100% complete and undamaged. The model frogmen are finely detailed and quite fragile. |
